When do I get my money?

ETS2 + ATS

What employees, subcontractors and the VTC get for a job, when each part reaches the account and where you see the day – "expected on …" and "credited on …".

Once you deliver, the job is done – but the money is not quite there yet. Just like in real haulage, the client company does not pay the freight at once but with a payment term. Only then does the money move on: into your VTC's company account and from there to you. So you don't have to guess, every job shows when your money comes – and later, when it was credited.

Who gets what?#

What you get for a job depends on how you drive. Your VTC sets the amounts itself – for employees the wage per role, for subcontractors their share of the job. How that is set up: Subcontractors and employees.

WhoWhat there isWhen it comes
Employeekm wage for the kilometres of the job (if your role has a "wage per kilometre")as soon as the client company has paid the freight
Employeeexpenses, if you are entitled to any for the jobwith the settlement of the job
Employeethe fixed monthly wageonce a month, independent of single jobs
Subcontractor"Your share" – everything you get for this jobwhen the client company has paid and your VTC has settled the job
VTCthe freight revenue (and a market bonus from the freight market) into the company accountas soon as the client company has paid
VTCon subcontractors' jobs, the commission – what the company keeps after the subcontractor got his shareas soon as the client company has paid

You drive yourself as the owner? Then you count as an employee of your own VTC. The same applies to you as to employees; the revenue of your job goes into the company account.

How the money moves after delivery#

  1. Delivered – the client company is settling. The freight is with the customer, the payment term is running.
  2. Arrived at your company. The client company has paid, the revenue is in the company account. At the same moment the employees' km wage is paid, and the VTC's commission is there.
  3. Paid out, money on its way. The VTC settles the job – automatically or through a bookkeeper (see Settlement and four-eyes approval). Shortly after, the employees' expenses and the subcontractors' "Your share" are in the account.

You see the day the client company pays on the job. If a bookkeeper in your VTC settles by hand, step 3 can come a little later; if a job is left waiting, the automation settles it by itself after a fixed period.

"Expected on …" and "credited on …"#

Every part of the money shows how far it is:

  • "expected on 14 Oct" – the money is still on its way. The day is the day it arrives as things stand now.
  • "credited on 12 Oct", or for the km wage "paid on 12 Oct" – the money is in the account.

If no day is fixed yet, it just says "still to come". Times are German time.

As an employee: your km wage#

Under "My jobs" every one of your jobs has its own km wage line – on the job card, on the job page under the settlement, in the Tachograph and in the archive:

  • "Km wage €86.00 – expected on 14 Oct"
  • "Km wage €42.20 – paid on 12 Oct"
  • "Km wage paid with the monthly wage" – for older jobs whose kilometres were still paid with the monthly wage

If there is no km wage for a job (for example because your role has no "wage per kilometre"), nothing is shown.

Next to the job list, in "At a glance", the box "Your km wage still to come" collects everything that is still open: day, route and amount per job, with the "Total" at the bottom. "The km wage of your tours goes to your account by itself. Here you can see when." Once everything is paid, the box disappears.

Why is there no base freight on my job? As an employee, the freight revenue goes to the company, not to you. You get km wage, expenses and your monthly wage. That is why we no longer show a "base freight €0.00" line.

As a subcontractor: your share#

Every job you drive as a subcontractor for your VTC – on the job card, on the job page under the settlement and in the Tachograph – shows your share with its day:

  • "Your share: €184.50 – expected on 10 Nov"
  • "Your share: €95.84 – credited on 12 Nov"

The amount is everything you get for this job – the same figure already shown on the job. As long as the job is not settled yet, the day is the day the client company pays; after the settlement the exact date is shown. A per-km bonus for subcontractors that your role may have, and your own costs (diesel, toll), are separate lines in your account statement.

You don't see your VTC's commission – that is company money.

For the VTC: commission and "On its way to the company"#

The owner and whoever has the right "See company account" in the VTC see the company's money in two places.

In "VTC jobs"#

Under VTC › "Tours" every subcontractor's job shows two lines:

  • the commission with its day – "Commission: €271.20 – expected on 10 Nov", later "… – credited on 8 Nov"
  • the subcontractor's share with its day – expected, later credited

The commission is what the company gets for the job (freight revenue and market bonus) minus what it pays the subcontractor for it. At the top of the page the figure "Still on its way to the company" shows how much money in total is still on its way to the company.

On the company account#

On the "Company account" page the card "On its way to the company" shows every delivered job whose money the client company has not paid yet, with "Money arrives on …". On subcontractors' jobs, the commission and the subcontractor's share are shown below it, each with its expected day.

At the top of the card you see the sum: "Open commissions: 1 · €271.20". Once a commission is credited, the job leaves this card – you then find it in "VTC jobs".

Payment default: commission below zero#

It can happen that a client company does not pay a freight – that is called a payment default. Then the freight revenue of this job does not reach the company account – your money as a driver is still safe:

  • The employees' km wage is paid anyway.
  • The subcontractor still gets "Your share" – the VTC pays it from the company account.

For the VTC the commission of this job can therefore be below zero. That is not a mistake but honest arithmetic, for example: "Commission: −€12.30 – credited on 8 Nov"
