Teardown and demolition — visible with progress

ETS2 + ATS

When the dealer tears something down or demolishes a workshop, you see it: “Teardown in progress”, percent and “finished approx.” — also for several levels at once.

Now and then the dealer tears something down too — a level of his fuel station, a parking space, an office building. That does not happen in one go: a teardown takes time, and you can see it. It runs like a building site, only in reverse.

What you see on the dealer overview#

In the “Build-up” tab of the dealer overview, every building that is being torn down shows:

DisplayMeaning
“Teardown in progress”this building is being taken down right now
“40 % torn down” with a barhow far the teardown has got
“finished approx. …”when the teardown is expected to be finished
“2 levels being torn down”finished levels of this building remain, part of it is being taken down

A building being torn down is never shown as “finished” and never as “under construction”. Once the teardown is done, it disappears from the list.

All times on the dealer overview are German time — in ETS2 and in ATS.

What happens during a teardown#

  • Right at the start the level stops counting: a parking space being torn down no longer takes a vehicle; a fuel level being torn down already holds less.
  • Only at the end is the ground free again: the floor area (m²) of the building is available for building again only once the teardown is finished.
  • There is no money back — neither for the building nor for the materials.

Several levels at once#

The dealer can also tear down several levels of one building at once, for example three parking spaces in one go. Each level then runs as its own teardown with its own progress; the dealer overview shows “3 levels being torn down”, and each one is finished as soon as its time is up. The most recently built levels always go first.

Demolition in a workshop#

A workshop hall or a work bay is never demolished in the middle of a repair. That is why there are two states — at the dealer's just like in your own workshop:

DisplayMeaning
“Demolition after the last repair”the demolition is ordered; it starts as soon as the running work is finished (no time and no percent yet)
“Demolition in progress · finished approx. … · 40 %”the demolition has started, this is how far it is, and this is how long it still takes

A demolition gives no money back either. How to order a demolition in your own workshop is described under The company's own workshop.
